Special events

February 07, 1991

The Baltimore Symphony Associates has planned several events for the BSO's 75th birthday at Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall next week. They follow the anniversary concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Rehearsals are sometimes more lively than concerts. For $5 at 10:30 a.m. Feb. 14, you can see and hear conductor David Zinman lead an orchestra rehearsal with Shlomo Mintz playing the "Violin Concerto" by Sibelius. Other pieces to be rehearsed are "Before Infrared" by Ince and Brahms "Symphony No. 1". WJHU's Lisa Simeone will give a pre-rehearsal talk at 9 a.m. For reservations, call 783-8051.

The regular concert will be at 8:15 that night and Feb. 15. For the 11 a.m. "Casual Concert" Feb. 16, only the Ince and the Brahms are scheduled to be performed.

The Associates, a support group, will host free tours of the hall between 12:30 and 2 p.m. Feb. 14 and Feb. 16. Call 783-8100 for reservations.
