Bessie A. Anderson Retired schoolteacher

Services for Bessie Anna Anderson, a retired Baltimore schoolteacher, will be held at noon today at the Macedonia Baptist Church, Fremont and Lafayette avenues.

Miss Anderson, who was 90 and lived on Dennlyn Road, died Wednesday of pneumonia at Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center.

A teacher of English and geography, she retired in 1965 from Dunbar High School after 47 years there and at several elementary schools.

Born in Baltimore, she was a graduate of Frederick Douglass High School and Coppin State College, then a two-year teachers college. She earned her bachelor's degree at Morgan State University and a master's degree at the University of Pennsylvania.

At Macedonia Baptist Church, she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, was a Girl Scout leader and a member of the Ladies' Guild.

A life member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, she also belonged to Gamma Chapter of Phi Delta Kappa Sorority.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
