Gosta Westerberg Taught at McDonogh

Services for Gosta "Gus" Westerberg, a retired industrial arts teacher at the McDonogh School, will be held at 11:30 a.m. today at Loring Byers funeral establishment, 8728 Liberty Road, Randallstown.

Mr. Westerberg, who was 86 and lived on Old Court Road in the Randallstown area, died Tuesday at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center of complications from a broken hip.

He retired in 1972 after teaching in the Lower School at McDonogh for 29 years.

Earlier, he taught in Baltimore County and Red Lion, Pa.

A native of Karlshamn, Sweden, who was reared in St. Cloud, Minn., he graduated from St. Cloud Teachers College and did graduate work at the University of Minnesota, the Johns Hopkins University, the University of Maryland and Pennsylvania State University, where he earned a master's degree.

Mr. Westerberg was a former secretary of the Dundalk Lions Club.

His wife, the former Stella Gobrecht, died in 1977.

He is survived by a son, Steen Westerberg of Randallstown; and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family suggested contributions to the McDonogh School.
