'Charlie's Ear,' 'Hit Man' among upcoming movies

Films going into production:

''Charlie's Ear,'' being filmed in Houston, is described as "one day in the life of an ordinary guy who wakes up to a very bad day." Think "Blue Velvet " meets "The Twilight Zone." Director-screenwriter is Gary Chasen, and the stars are Austin Pendleton, Catherine Hyland, Tony Fields and Sebastian Massa.

''Hit Man,'' being filmed in Pittsburgh, stars Forest Whitaker as a mob killing machine who vows to turn over a new leaf before his last hit. Roy London is the director. ''Hit Man'' also stars Sherilyn Fenn, Valerie Perrine, Jim Belushi, Sharon Stone, Lois Chiles and Charles Dutton.

''Hot Shots'' stars Charlie Sheen and Cary Elwes in a spoof of a misfit band of Navy pilots in training for a special mission. Director Jim Abrahams ("Big Business") is filming in Los Angeles for summer release.

''Problem Child II,'' shooting in Orlando, Fla., where lovable Junior has moved to a new town but meets his match in Trixie, a little girl even more raucous than he is. John Ritter, Jack Warden and Michael Oliver all return. Director Brian Levant is shooting for a summer release.
