Baltimore City

ASSAULT ON POLICE: Western District -- Police reported that Officer Scott Pumphrey was in the 2200 block of Madison Ave. when he spotted two men armed with handguns. As Pumphrey approached them, they pointed their weapons at him and then fled. No shots were fired.

ASSAULT: Western District -- Police reported that during an incident inside a residence in the 1900 block of W. North Ave., Cornelius Rose, of the 1900 block of W. North Ave., reported that he had an argument at home with a 19-year-old male acquaintance and was struck in the chest with a crowbar. Rose was listed in good condition today at Sinai Hospital with a rib injury.

BURGLARY: Western District -- Police reported that someone broke in through the kitchen door of a dwelling in the 1000 block of W. Lanvale St. and stole an AM-FM portable radio valued at $400.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Two residents of the 5000 block of Denview Way were robbed of their coats while they walked in the 5400 block of Sinclair Lane. Michael Thompson, 19, and Anthony Reeves, 18, were accosted by two men, one armed with a handgun. The coats were valued at $305.

BURGLARY/ARREST: Northeastern District -- Police responding to a burglary in progress in the 3300 block of Richmond Ave. arrested a man who was attempting to leave the scene with an air conditioner valued at $200. Michael Tolliver, 34, of the 1100 block of N. Montford Ave., was charged with burglary.

BURGLARY/ARREST: Western District -- Police investigating a burglary in the 2100 block of McCulloh St. arrested a man as he was attempting to leave the dwelling with a VCR. The man was being held pending charges.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Michael Powell, 34, of the 3800 block of Woodridge Ave., reported he was in the 2900 block of Harford Road when a man with a handgun accosted him and robbed him of more than $100 in cash.

THEFT: Northern District -- Jay Simmons, of the 2700 block of N. Howard St., reported that someone broke into his parked 1979 Chevrolet in the 100 block of W. 28th St. and stole clothing and the battery, all valued at more than $400.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- Police reported that a man armed with a handgun entered the SCS Variety Ltd. store in the 3800 block of Pall Mall Road and robbed an employee of an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register.

THEFT: Northern District -- Brenda Hill, of the 2700 block of Boone St., reported that someone entered her home over the weekend and stole clothing valued at more than $200. She said she suspects a male acquaintance who had been there earlier.

ROBBERY: Northern District -- Police said a man at the 7-Eleven store in the 100 block of E. 25th St. walked behind the counter, placed a hard object into the back of an employee and demanded that he open the cash register. The employee became frightened and was unable to open the register. The assailant then grabbed two cartons of cigarettes from a display rack and fled out the door.

ARSON: Northeastern District -- Police reported that someone poured flammable liquid on a porch at the Belair Professional Building in the 6400 block of Belair Road Tuesday night and set it afire, causing minor damage. A city firefighter sustained minor injuries fighting the blaze and was treated at an area hospital. Police had no motive for the fire.

ROBBERY TRY: Northeastern District -- Sardari Ali, of the 4200 block of Mary Ave., reported she was walking in the 3200 block of Belair Road shortly before 11 a.m. yesterday when a man grabbed the briefcase she was carrying, but she held on during a struggle and the assailant fled.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 2000 block of Odell Ave. reported that someone forced open a door to her apartment and stole property valued at nearly $400.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Evelyn Shipwith, of the 5900 block of Bowleys Lane, reported she was standing at a bus stop in the 5200 block of Parkside Drive around noon yesterday when a man robbed her of property she was carrying and drove off in a car. Later, police arrested a 30-year-old suspect and were holding him pending charges and a bail hearing.

CUTTING: Northeastern District -- Police were seeking a 13-year-old boy in the stabbing of a 14-year-old boy about 4 p.m. yesterday during an argument in the 3200 block of Harford Road. Police said the younger juvenile stabbed the victim in the chest with a knife, inflicting a minor injury.

THEFT: Western District -- Roland Goodin, of the 5500 block of Midwood Ave., reported that someone broke into his parked car in the 2700 block of Walbrook Ave. and stole a telephone and tools, all valued at nearly $1,200.

ROBBERY: Western District -- Jay Brown, of the 2100 block of N. Fulton Ave., reported that a man with a handgun accosted him at home and robbed him of cash, a TV set and a ring, all valued at more than $400.
