Recital benefits medical center in Jerusalem

Pianists Mary Stanton and Allan Sternfield will play a duo recital of Schubert, Mozart, Dvorak and Saint-Saens at 7:15 p.m. Sunday at Beth Tfiloh Congregation for the benefit of the Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem.

Stanton of Baltimore and Sternfield of Israel have played together and as soloists since forming the duo in 1967 at the Peabody Conservatory, where they were students.

The program consists of Schubert's "Marsche Caracteristique," Mozart's "Sonata in B Flat Major," Dvorak's "Slavonic Dances," and Saint-Saens' "The Carnival of the Animals."

Sunday's concert at Beth Tfiloh, 3300 Old Court Road, is planned by the Baltimore Committee for Shaare Zedek, a leading health care center for patients of all religions and races in Jerusalem for more than a century.

Baltimoreans Lowell R. Glazer and Steven M. Gevarter will be honored Sunday night. Glazer will receive the Jerusalem Humanitarian Award and Gevarter the Young Leadership Award. Tickets are $25 and up. For tickets and reservations, call 764-7242 or 358-8211.
