Roger W. Schipke, chairman and chief executive officer of th Ryland Group of Columbia, has been elected to the board of directors of Legg Mason Inc., a Baltimore financial services firm.
Schipke joined Ryland, a national homebuilder and mortgage finance company, last May following a 29-year career with General Electric Co., where he was senior vice president of GE Appliances. He served as president of Ryland until assuming the positions of chairman and CEO after C.E. "Ted" Peck retired last month.
