Julian G. Bacot Roads engineer

Graveside services for Julian G. Bacot, an estimator and engineer for a road construction company and a former president of the Anne Arundel County YMCA, will be held at 11 a.m. today at Christ Episcopal Church in Port Republic.

Mr. Bacot, who was 62 and lived in the Round Bay area, died Thursday of heart failure at the Greater Laurel-Beltsville Hospital in Laurel.

He worked for the past 10 years for the Cherry Hill Construction Co. in Jessup, and earlier for the State Roads Commission, Regal Construction Co. and other companies.

He was a member of the Highway Contractors Association and the Maryland Association of Engineers.

Mr. Bacot had been president of the Severna Park YMCA, president of the Severna Park Kiwanis Club and a former lieutenant governor for Kiwanis International.

Born in Baltimore, he attended St. James School in Hagerstown and graduated from the Boys' Latin School in 1948.

He was a former member of a Seabee unit in the Naval Reserve.

He is survived by his wife, the former Elizabeth Briscoe, to whom he was married in 1952; two daughters, Rebecca Bacot Hamilton of Chino, Calif., and Ann Bacot Edwards of Germantown; a son, Marshall Norton Bacot of Brooklyn Park; a brother, George H. Bacot Jr. of Charlottesville, Va.; and four grandchildren.
