Wilde Lake Alumnus Is '90 Post Soldier

Army Pfc. Thomas L. Brodkin, son of Peter and Kathaleen Brodkin of Columbia, has been named post soldier of the year at Fort Wainwright, Alaska.

The selection was based on the soldier's exemplary duty performance, job knowledge, leadership qualities and significant self-improvement and other accomplishments.

Brodkin is a 1983 graduate of Wilde Lake High School.

AIR FORCE SERGEANT GETS SPECIAL MEDAL

Staff Sgt. Russell D. Kirk, son of Donald and Kerin Kirk of Ellicott City, has been decorated with the AirForce Commendation Medal.

The medal is awarded to those individuals who demonstrate outstanding achievement or meritorious service in the performance of duties on behalf of the Air Force.

Kirk, a 1979graduate of Mount Hebron High, is a public affairs technician at Lajes Field, Portugal.

MARINE CERTIFIED IN ELECTRONICS REPAIR

Marine Pfc. William L. Bloom, a 1988 graduate of Mount Hebron High, has completed the electrical equipment repair course.

He joined the Marine Corps last February.

PRIVATE COMPLETES BASIC TRAINING

Pvt. Litisha D. Brown, niece of Dorthy Lee of Columbia, has completed basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C.

Brown received instruction in drilland ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice and Army history and traditions.

SEAMAN GRADUATES FROMRECRUIT TRAINING

Navy Seaman Recruit Robert M. Bianconi Jr., son of Robert M. Bianconi of Ellicott City, has completed recruit training in Great Lakes, Ill.

He joined the Navy in September.

SYKESVILLE AIRMAN REACHES FIRST CLASS

Airman 1st Class Kathleen Boyle, daughter of James and Virginia Boyle of Sykesville, has been promoted to her present rank while stationed at Dover A.F.B. in Delaware.

Boyle, who joined the Air Force in July 1989, is a 1988 graduate of Glenelg High School.
