Services for Elizabeth Rice, a retired chef, will be held at noon today at the March Funeral Home, 4300 Wabash Ave.

Mrs. Rice, who was 70 and lived on West Pratt Street in the Mount Clare Apartments, died Saturday of complications to kidney failure.

She retired more than a decade ago after years in which she prepared salads and sandwiches for catered parties at private clubs.

Earlier, she had worked in a rubber heel factory in South Baltimore.

The former Elizabeth Reed was born and educated in Pacolet, S.C., and came to Baltimore as a young woman. She was a member of the Christ Temple Church.

Her husband, James Rice, is a retired construction worker.

In addition to her husband, her survivors include two daughters, Geraldine Henry and Joanna Fuller, both of Baltimore; her mother, Rosa Rice Reed of Pacolet; four sisters, Mary Ruth Peeler of Bridgeport, Conn., Gladys Smith of Greenville, S.C., and Hattie Simms and Josephine McBeth, both of Pacolet; two brothers, Thomas Reed of Pacolet and Robert Reed of Baltimore; nine grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
