Atlanta Braves -- Agreed to terms with C Mike Heath (.270, 7 HR, 38 RBI in 122 games with Tigers) on a $2 million, two-year contract. Assigned OF Geronimo Berroa to Class AAA Richmond.

Los Angeles Dodgers -- Announced that C Gary Carter has accepted an invitation to go to spring training.

Pittsburgh Pirates -- Announced they have severed ties with Harrisburg of the Eastern League. Announced a working agreement with Columbus of the Southern League.

Seattle Mariners -- Acquired P Dave Richards from the Detroit Tigers for IF Todd Haney. Assigned C Bill McGuire to their minor-league camp for reassignment.

Toronto Blue Jays -- Named Dan Rajkowski general manager of Knoxville of the Southern League.

Basketball

USAB -- Named Jim Foster coach of the 1991 USA Women's Junior National Team. Named Joan Bonvicini, Long Beach State coach, and Marianne Stanley, USC coach, assistant coaches for the 1991 USA Pan American Games women's team.

USBL -- Named Philadelphia as a 1991 expansion team. Philadelphia named Jay Liberti general manager.

Detroit Dazzlers (Liberty Basketball Association) -- Named Dick Harter coach.

Indiana Pacers -- Put C Rik Smits (bone chips in right elbow) on injured list. Signed C Jawann Oldham to 10-day contract.

Presbyterian -- Named Pat Apke, Jeff Farrington and Jay Poag assistant football coaches.

Pro Bowl -- Dallas Cowboys RB Emmitt Smith will replace Chicago Bears RB Neal Anderson (rib), QB Jim Everett replaces San Francisco's Joe Montana (finger), and New York Giants NT Eric Howard takes over for Philadelphia's Jerome Brown (shoulder), Bengals RB James Brooks will replace Raiders RB Bo Jackson (hip) and Seahawks RB John L. Williams will replace Chargers RB Marion Butts (foot).
