MARINE VINCENTI REPORTS FOR DUTY
Marine Lance Cpl. William T. Vincenti recently reported for duty with 2nd Force Service Support Group, Camp Lejeune, N.C.
Vincenti is the son of William T. Vincenti of Aberdeen and a 1989 graduate of Perryville High School, Perryville. He joined the Marine Corps in April 1990.
MAJOR GENERAL AKIN GETS COUNTY AWARD
Maj. Gen. George H. Akin received the 1990 Harford County Excellence in Regional Leadership Award on Dec. 6 in Baltimore.
Akin, commander of the U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command and Aberdeen Proving Ground since April 1988, was cited for his leadership in addressing environmental problems at APG and throughout the region, his involvement of the community leadership in problem-solving and his efforts toward sharing APG's technological expertise with the community.
The Excellence in Regional Leadership Award is sponsored by the Baltimore Regional Council of Governments and is presented to six members of the regional community, oneeach from Baltimore City and Baltimore, Howard, Anne Arundel, Carroll and Harford counties. Akin was nominated for the award by Barbara A. Risacher, Harford County Councilwoman. Risacher and Aberdeen Mayor George J. Englesson presented the award.
COUNCILMAN BARKER'S DAUGHTERPROMOTED
Army Lt. Lisa Barker Staudenecker, daughter of HarfordCounty Councilman Phillip Barker of Havre de Grace and Juanita Barker of Ocean City, was recently promoted to first lieutenant, serving with the Signal Corp, Nurnenburg, Germany.
Staudenecker attended Havre de Grace High School and graduated from Salisbury State University.
She lives in Germany with her husband, Michael, and their two children, Christopher and Kelsey Marie.
AIR FORCE'S HINTON IS AWARDED MEDAL
Staff Sgt. Steven F. Hinton, son of Ray F. Hinton of Severna Park, Anne Arundel County, and has been decorated with the Air Force Commendation Medal.
The medal is awarded to those who demonstrate outstanding achievement or meritorious service in the performance of their duties on behalf of the Air Force.
Hinton is a space systems operations specialist at Cavalier Air Station, N.D.
Hinton's wife, Angela, is the daughter of Lydia P. Aquino of Joppatowne.
HERRINCOMPLETES TRAINING FOR NAVY
Navy Seaman Recruit Kerry D. Herrinhas completed recruit training at Recruit Training Center, Orlando, Fla.
During Herrin's eight-week training cycle, he studied generalmilitary subjects to prepare him for further academic and on-the-jobtraining in one of the Navy's 85 basic fields.
His studies included seamanship, close order drill, naval history and first aid. Personnel who complete this course are eligible for three hours of collegecredit in physical education and hygiene.
Herrin, a 1990 graduateof Aberdeen High School, joined the Navy in June 1990.
