Cole's Fashion Curve

January 20, 1991|By Donna Peremes

Globetrotting swimwear designer Anne Cole has just come back from a trip around the United States, and is simply glowing with good feelings about American women and fashion.

"I came home fired with admiration for the American woman's unique understanding of fashion," she writes in the release accompanying her new collection. She was particularly impressed by the "clear-headed demands on [designers] to meet her informed and exacting standards."

One of the demands Ms. Cole seems to be hearing most distinctly is "more curves." The suit titled "the CD Player," for example, features a pointy corselet bra top; while "Twin Peaks" offers boning and foam padding in a strapless design. Although only 10 of the 60 suits in her collection include such hard and fast construction, "I believe we've proven our point," she writes.

Anne Cole swimwear is available at Bare Necessities, where it retails from $40 to $60.
