Scholarship Created To Reward Volunteers

Scholarships for Scholars Inc., has announced the establishment of the Junior League of Annapolis Voluntarism Scholarship. The $1,500 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who has completed over 200 hours of volunteer service over the four years of high school.

The successful recipient must also be a resident of Anne Arundel County and be a graduating senior in a public or private high school in Anne Arundel County. The scholar must have a minimum composite SAT score of 1000 and a minimum GPA of 3.0, and cannot be a son or daughter of a Junior League member.

The money, which will be provided by the Junior League of Annapolis, is to be used for tuition, books, room, and/or meals at the institution of higher education of the recipient's choice. The selection of the scholar will be a joint effort by Scholarships for Scholars andthe Junior League of Annapolis. Applications for the scholarships are available from high school guidance counselors. The deadline for submission of completed applications is Feb. 15.
