Ruckert Nips Fowler In Men's Two-mile

Both Steve Ruckert and Ken Fowler turned in sensational performancesin the men's 2-mile race of the Howard County Striders Winter Seriesat Thunder Hill.

Ruckert, a masters runner, clocked a time of 10 minutes even, with Fowler finishing three seconds later.

The competition for third place was just as close.

Zach Heidepriem edged Zach Tropf by only four seconds in 12:54.

In the women's event, Dana Strickland coasted to a 13:21 win, placing sixth overall.

In the men's 10K, Derek Johnson pulled away from Craig Chasse at the 5-mile mark and finished in 36:11.

Steffi Rausch took an early lead in the women's 10K and recorded a winning time of 44:12.

Martin Goode crushed his nearest opponent, Jim Carbary, by more than two minutes to claim the men's 15K title in 57:43. Carbary's time set a new course record.
