A Mass of Christian burial for Robert H. Swingle Sr., a retired trucking company owner who played drums with a band, will be offered at 9 a.m. today at Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church in West River.
Mr. Swingle, who was 63, died Friday after a heart attack at his home in Galesville.
He moved to Galesville from Laurel after his retirement in 1979 as owner of Duncan Transfer, an Alexandria, Va., trucking company. He operated the business and lived in Laurel for about 10 years, after working as a sales executive for trucking companies in several other cities.
A native of Bergenfield, N.J., he served in the Navy during World War II and then in the Marine Corps.
He played drums in his youth and returned to music after his retirement, playing with the Top Side Jammers at the Top Side Inn in Galesville.
