Sally Overbey Active in church

Services for Sally Overbey, a longtime Baltimore resident, were held yesterday evening at the Greater Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church on East Preston Street.

Mrs. Overbey, who lived in East Baltimore, died Tuesday of an aneurysm at Johns Hopkins Hospital. She was 75.

The former Sally Graves was born in Halifax, Va., where she attended public schools. She came to Baltimore in 1932 and married Vernas Overbey a year later. Mr. Overbey died in 1976.

Mrs. Overbey was a member of Greater Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church for 50 years and was involved in many church activities.

She is survived by six daughters, Roberta Faulkner of New York, Shirley M. Overbey of Butner, N.C., and Mildred Tripline, Delores Mayo, Barbara Overbey and Angela Overbey, all of Baltimore; four sons, James, Earl, Leo and Lawrence Overbey, all of Baltimore; three sisters, Laura Williams and Pauline Graves, both of Roxboro, N.C., and Dorothy Woods of Baltimore; 34 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
