3 Fallston Seniors Merit Semifinalists

Three Fallston High School seniors have been announced as semifinalists in the 1991 National Merit Scholarship Competition.

Shawn Bullock, Mike Smith and Ellen White were among 15,000 other finalists selected throughout the country.

In addition to being exceptional academic students, these three scholars are also involved in extracurricular activities.

Shawn Bullock is a member of the German Club and is involved with Fallston's literary magazine, Troubadour. He plans to attend Cornell University.

Mike Smith is a team captain of the "It's Academic" team and a member of the National Honor Society. He plans to attend the University of Maryland and become a pharmacist.

Ellen White serves as editor-in-chief of Fallston's yearbook, the Catamount, works with the NHS, the school play, forensics and "Kids on the Block." She hopes to pursue a career in marine biology.

Finalists, to be announced Feb. 4, will be eligible to receive a $3,000 renewable scholarship through participating colleges.
