In a retail fashion world full of pricey designer suits and opulently extravagant evening wear, the Leslie Fay label is proud to point out a pretty impressive figure: 85 percent of its designs retail for under $100.

Lori Streaker, dresses buyer for Miller Brothers, believes thastyle and quality are not sacrificed for the reasonable prices. The line offers "a good fit, and an important look for the price tag: moderately priced, with up-to-date designs," she says. (Miller Brothers carries Leslie Fay Petite.)

Linen, sandwashed silk, cotton and rayon are all to be found ithe Spring 1991 collection, as are versatile style choices ranging from relaxed city shorts to work-into-evening dresses and suits.

Color selections vary according to the groupings involved: Soft corals and periwinkles whisper through "Sea and Sand," while hot brights like chartreuse and turquoise jazz up "Mediterranean Blues." Clay, straw, and teakwood brown define the "Earth Tone" group; classic black and white can be found in "City Smarts II."

Leslie Fay is carried locally at the Golden Ring and Security Square locations of Hecht's, as well as Miller Brothers.
