SILVER PALACE, 614A Boulton St., behind Harford Mall, Bel Air. Open 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. 836-7000.

The Silver Palace seemingly thrives on specials. In addition to itregular menu, there are inexpensive lunch specials, chef's specials and even a special Sunday buffet.

The restaurant, which offers sit-down service as well as carryout, serves a variety of cuisines including Sichuan, Hunan and Cantonese.

Carryout lunch specials, served Monday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. until 3 p.m., are hard to beat. For example, there are nine different chicken dishes available for $4.25 each, which include one egg roll and fried rice. I love the spicy Kung Pao Chicken. In addition to chicken, there are seven beef dishes (for $4.50), eight lo mein and chow mein dishes (for $4.25) and nine seafood dishes (for $5).

Silver Palace also has an extensive regular menu that ranges from the tried-and-true such as Chicken Egg Foo Young ($5.15 per order) to the more unusual Curry Shrimp ($9.50).

Chef's specials include "Hawaii Five O" ($9.50). This dish includes steak, lobster, chicken, shrimp and scallops. Seafood Hawaii ($12) is a mixture of lobster, shrimp, crab meat, scallops ,, and Chinese vegetables in a delicious sauce.

The restaurant has a Sunday buffet from noon until 3:30 p.m. priced at $5.50 for adults and $2.50 for children.
