Ruth V. Lancaster

Ruth Virginia Lancaster, 77, a retired assistant comptroller for an automotive fleet leasing company, died Sunday at the Anne Arundel Medical Center after an illness of several months.

Funeral services were being held today at Woods Memorial Presbyterian Church, 611 Baltimore-Annapolis Blvd., Severna Park.

Mrs. Lancaster, who lived in Cape Arthur, retired in 1977 from Peterson, Howell and Heather, now known as PHH FleetAmerica, where she had worked for 25 years, starting as a secretary.

The former Ruth Virginia Locke was a native of Parkersburg, W. Va., and was a graduate of the Mountain State Business College there.

She moved to Baltimore in 1941 and lived in Linthicum before moving to Cape Arthur. When she first came to Baltimore, she worked for a time as a teacher at a church nursery school.

Mrs. Lancaster was a member of the Chi Sigma sorority and the Ki-Wives.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Edgar D. Lancaster Sr.; a daughter, Eleanor Joyce Lancaster Anderson of Severna Park; a son, Edgar Dale Lancaster Jr. of Linthicum; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
