The Baltimore Sun Education Services Department will sponsor a "No Textbook Day" workshop designed to provide teachers with innovative ways of using the newspaper with their students during Newspaper In Education Week, March 4 through 8.
The workshop, with focus on kindergarten through grades 5, will be offered on Saturday, Jan. 26, while the workshop for grades 6 through 12 will be conducted on Feb. 9.
The registration fee for two teachers is $35 and includes a continental breakfast, lunch, choice of two sessions on topics such as language arts, math, kindergarten through grade 3 activities, environment, geography and political cartoons. Also included in the registration fee are a set of curriculum guides, workshop packet of lessons plans and 100 copies of The Sun and The Evening Sun per teacher.
Both workshops will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in The Baltimore Sun building, 501 N. Calvert Street.
