St. Mary's stuns No. 4 Seton Keough Basketball

January 05, 1991

After pulling off two upsets to win the Noel Classic last weekend, St. Mary's came up with its biggest victory.

The seventh-ranked Saints (8-5, 2-2) defeated visiting and No. 4 Seton Keough (5-3, 3-1), 57-46, in a Catholic League A Division game last night. A loss would have all but ended St. Mary's chances for the league title.

Amelia Mikula scored 16 points to lead the Saints, who were without All-Metro forward Laura Coakley, who may miss the rest of the season with cartilage and ligament damage to her knee.

The win was the Saints' first over Seton Keough. St. Mary's had finished second to Seton Keough in the Catholic League the past two seasons and lost all six meetings with the Gators since becoming a member of the league in 1988.

In a boys game, Aberdeen (6-3, 0-1) outscored No. 19 Edgewood (7-1, 1-0), 31-6, in the third quarter before falling, 63-60, in both teams' Harford County League opener. Aberdeen had trailed, 58-29, after three quarters.

Steve Lewis scored 19 to lead Edgewood.
