Redskins at Eagles

TV: Channels 13, 7

Line: Eagles by 4

Last week: The Redskins (10-6) beat the Bills, 29-14. The Eagles (10-6) beat the Cardinals, 23-21.

Last meeting: The Eagles beat the Redskins, 28-14, in a Monday night game Nov. 12, as the Philadelphia defense scored 2 TDs and set up a third. Nine Redskins were injured.

The series: The Redskins lead, 54-32-5, in a series that dates to 1934, when the Redskins were in Boston. Washington has won four of the past six and eight of the past 11. Six of the past seven games have been decided by six points or fewer. This is the first playoff meeting between the teams.

On the sidelines: Joe Gibbs, in his 10th season as Redskins coach, has a 112-54 record. Buddy Ryan, in his fifth season as Eagles coach, is 43-37-1.

What the Redskins have to do to win: Contain QB Randall Cunningham. He has just 3 offensive TDs in the past three games between the teams, and one of them came on a 9-yard drive.

What the Eagles have to do to win: Rattle QB Mark Rypien. Rypien, who hasn't played in the past three games against the Eagles, has been inconsistent much of the season. Because the Eagles normally are tough against the run, they can shut down the Redskins offense if they can keep Rypien from geting a hot hand.

Injuries: Redskins: DT Eric Williams (foot) is doubtful; WR Gary Clark (knee-ankle), DE Markus Koch (knee), T Jim Lachey (shoulder-elbow), DE Charles Mann (knee) are probable. Clark didn't practice but is expected to play. Eagles: DT Jerome Brown (shoulder), C David Alexander (thumb) are doubtful; S Terry Hoage (wrist), LB Seth Joyner (ankle), G Mike Schad (toe), G Ron Solt (ankle) are probable. Brown and Alexander are starters.

Outlook: The Eagles are favored, they're home and they have a critical edge at the key position -- quarterback. But don't look for them to pound the Redskins the way they did the last time. This one figures to be very close and could go either way.

Redskins roster Head coach: Joe Gibbs
