A Mass of Christian burial for Anna G. Shepperd, retired assistant superintendent of Baltimore County schools, will be offered at 9 a.m. today at St. Stephen's Roman Catholic Church, 8030 Bradshaw Road. Miss Shepperd, who was 82, died Tuesday of cancer at her home in Kingsville.

She retired in 1969 after serving for two years as assistant superintendent of instruction.

She began her career in 1929 as a teacher at the Parkville Elementary School.

She served as vice principal of the Towson Elementary School and as principal of the Baynesville and Pikesville elementary schools, and she taught for a time at the Lida Lee Tall School at what is now Towson State University.

In 1946, she was named an elementary school supervisor in the county schools. Two years later, she administered the system's new special education program.

She also had served as a director of elementary education and an area director before becoming an assistant superintendent.

Born in Baltimore, she was a graduate of Towson High School andTowson State University. She earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland and a master's degree from Columbia University.

She is survived by three sisters, Elizabeth Shepperd Hohman, Regina G. Shepperd and Mary Frances Shepperd, all of Kingsville; two nieces, Mary Hohman Quinlan of Towson and Elizabeth Regina Hohman of Kingsville; and five grandnieces.

The family suggested memorial contributions to St. Stephen's Church or to the Stella Maris Hospice Program.
