Vision, Hearing Screenings Set

January 02, 1991

The Anne Arundel County Department of Health conducts vision and hearing screening in public and private schools for children in preschool, kindergarten, third grade, eighth grade and new students.

Special education students and students receiving speech therapy may also be recommended for screening. Skilled technicians screen children to detect vision or hearing problems that may impair a child's ability in school.

Parents will receive a letter if a possible deficiency is detected. The parents are advised to contact the child's doctor for further testing and advice.
