What: The 77th annual Rose Bowl matches the Big Ten champion Iowa vs. the Pacific-10 champion Washington. Iowa and Washington have met four times, and the series stands at 2-2.

Washington outlook: The Huskies broke the Pac-10 record with 340 points in conference games this year and also averaged 35.8 points. Washington's offense is rushing, where it averaged 246.8 yards per game. Leading the Huskies is senior Greg Lewis, 1,279 yards on 229 carries for a 5.6 average and eight touchdowns. Lewis became the first back in Washington history to gain 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons, adding his 1990 total to 1,100 in 1989. Lewis also became the first Washington back to lead the Pac-10 in rushing since Jacque Robinson did so in 1982 with 926 yards, coincidently the last time the Huskies were in the Rose Bowl. QB Matt Brunell leads the Huskies, completing 118 of 253 for 1,732 yards and 14 touchdowns. Brunell's favorite receiver is WR Mario Bailey with 40 receptions for 667 yards for 16.7 yards per catch and six touchdowns.

Iowa outlook: The Hawkeyes' offense has established season records for yards rushing (2,560) and rushing touchdowns (34). Rushing was split between RB Nick Bell, 945 yards on 155 carries and 10 touchdowns, and TB Tony Stewart, 823 yards on 150 carries and three touchdowns. Stewart, who averaged 5.5 yards per carry, needs 16 yards to become's Iowa's all-time leading rusher, passing Owen Gill at 2,556. Bell, who averaged 6.1 yards per carry, needs 55 yards to become only the fifth Iowa player to break 1,000 yards. Directing this dynamic duo is QB Matt Rodgers, 172 of 276 for 2,032 yards and 14 touchdowns.
