Alabama outlook: QB Gary Hollingsworth has completed 140 of 282 for 1,463 yards for four touchdowns and 13 interceptions. RB Chris Anderson leads the Tide's rushing with 492 yards on 106 carries for three touchdowns. Leading the receiving corps is Lamonde Russell with 28 receptions for 306 yards for 10.93 yards per catch. Alabama's best offense, however, is its defense. The Crimson Tide ranked first in passing defense allowing 82.47 yards per game. Alabama ranks third in total defense allowing only 229.4 yards per game. and fourth in the nation in scoring defense allowing only 11.5 points a game.

Louisville outlook: QB Browning Nagle has completed 146 of 263 for 2,150 yards and 16 touchdowns. Six of Nagle's receivers have gained 200 or more yards and all average in double figures in receptions. Leading the group is flanker Anthony Cummings with 28 receptions for 473 yards, 16.8 yards per catch and 10 touchdowns. Second in yards but first in receptions is TE Ken McKay with 33 receptions for 471 yards, a 14.2 average and two touchdowns. Leading the ground attack is FB Ralph Dawkins with 578 yards on 121 carries for a 4.5 average and five touchdowns. Dawkins also has 27 receptions for 373 yards a 13.8 average and one touchdown. P Klaus Wilmsmeyer ranks in the nation's top 10 with a 42.9 punting average.
