Edwin Thome Sr. Retired accountant

A Mass of Christian burial for Edwin Thome Sr., a retired accountant and an industrial contracting company president, will be offered at 10 a.m. today at St. Francis of Assisi Church in the 3600 block of Harford Road.

Mr. Thome died Friday at St. Joseph Hospital of a stroke. He was 79.

Born in Baltimore, he was a Baltimore City College graduate. He graduated from the University of Baltimore in 1936.

Mr. Thome worked as an accountant, spending the bulk of his HTC career with the National Engineering Co., an industrial contracting firm. He served as president of the company before retiring in 1975.

After his retirement, he fished and followed the stock market. He also spent his summers at a second home in Ocean City.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Margaret Kozma of Northeast Baltimore; two sons, Dr. Dennis Thome and Edwin Joseph Jr., both of Baltimore; and a sister, Marie Moravetz of Hanover, Pa.
