He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Annabel Murphy Bowers; a daughter, Anne Catherine Firth of Springfield, Va.; two sons, William Loring Bowers Sr. of Hanover and R. Samuel Bowers Jr. of Atlanta; and four grandchildren.

JANET A. RAWLINGS HOMEMAKER, 62

Funeral service took place for Linthicum resident Janet Audrey Rawlings on Saturday, Dec. 29 at Singleton Funeral Home.

Mrs. Rawlings, 62, died of natural causes on Dec. 26 at her home.

A resident of Linthicum for 35 years, the former Janet Audrey Theodore was a homemaker who enjoyed traveling.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, William K. Rawlings; two daughters, Diane Kling of Baltimore and Susan R. Bunting of Apollo Beach, Fla.; three brothers, John A. Theodore of Queenstown, Philip M. Theodore of Sorento, Fla., and Lawrence R. Theodore of Glen Burnie; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

ROBERT R. GARDNER ENGINEER, 68

Funeral services will take place for Glen Burnie resident Robert Roland Gardner at noon today at Singleton Funeral Home.

Mr. Gardner, 68, died on Dec. 27 at North Arundel Hospital.

A graduate of Glen Burnie High School and the Maryland Institute, he worked as a mechanical design engineer for Johns Hopkins University. He also served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Eleanor T. Gardner; a son, Robert R. Gardner of Glen Burnie; a daughter, Carol T. Antonia of Baltimore; two brothers, Leroy Gardner and John Gardner, both of Glen Burnie; three sisters, Margaret Adams of Pasadena, Catherine Lynch of Linthicum and Anna Hagenauer of Hastings-on-Hudson, N.Y.; and four grandchildren.

SYLVIA M. BACHNER ASSISTANT MANAGER, 79

Funeral services will take place for Severna Park resident Sylvia Manberg Bachner at 2:15 today at Gutterman Funeral Home in Rockville Centre, N.Y.

Mrs. Bachner, 79, died of pneumonia on Dec. 27 at Meridian Nursing Center in Severna Park.

She worked as an assistant manager of Revlon in the 1940s.

Mrs. Bachner was active at one time in the League of Women Voters and the PTA in Queens County, N.Y. She was a library manager in the Queens public school system.

Other interests included reading.

She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Dr. Samuel Bachner; a daughter, Jane Bachner of Annapolis; and two sisters, Hana Fogel of Hewlett, N.Y., and Molly Tepfer of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

Local funeral arrangements were made by Barranco and Sons Severna Park Funeral Home.
