Ring in 1991 with music, fireworks

The Inner Harbor will perform its Times Square imitation again tonight with a countdown to midnight and fireworks and a laser show welcoming the new year.

Also downtown, the city is again sponsoring non-alcoholic parties at the Convention Center from 9-11:30 p.m. Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under. Admission price includes free snacks and soda. For more information call 837-4636.

For those who gather around the harbor itself in the hours before midnight, the Scott Cunningham Blues Band plays at the Harborplace Amphitheater 9 p.m.-midnight.

Among the many other events taking place in the area is the Baltimore Blues Society's 9 p.m. bash at the American Legion Hall, 1331 Selling Ave. The bill includes Ronnie Earl, Sugar Ray and the Broadcasters and Paul Rishell. For more information call 444-1716.

Annapolis will host a First Night celebration showcasing the performing arts with 70 performances at 24 indoor locations around the city. First Nighters can walk from event to event and midnight will be greeted with church bells, bagpipes and fireworks.
