Bill Madlock -- Filed multimillion dollar lawsuit against former agent and attorney Stephen Greenberg, now deputy commissioner of baseball, for breach of contract, breach of good faith and fair dealings, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud and deceit, accounting malpractice, negligence and conspiracy.

NBA -- Fined Detroit Pistons G Joe Dumars $1,000 for starting fight with Chicago Bulls F Horace Grant on Dec. 25 and fined Grant $2,500 for retaliating. Fined Pistons G Isiah Thomas $1,500 for punching Atlanta Hawks F Trevor Wilson on Dec. 21.
Denver Nuggets -- Signed G Tim Legler and F Anthony Mason to 10-day contracts.
Indiana Pacers -- Hired former Pacer Billy Knight (1974-83) as second assistant coach.
