Dunbar-Dunbar rematch set in Pa. tourney

Senior guard Terrance Alexander had 24 points and nine rebounds, as top-ranked Dunbar (10-1) defeated Wehrle Memorial (Columbus, Ohio), 87-62, in a War Memorial Tournament semifinal in Johnstown, Pa., last night.

Dunbar advances to tonight's 8:30 championship against Dunbar of Washington, which defeated Hempfield (Pa.), 87-48, in the other semifinal. Dunbar of Baltimore has beaten Washington Dunbar twice this season.

Dunbar led at the half, 36-31, then outscored Wehrle, 26-11, in the third quarter to build a 62-42 lead.

Senior center Devin Gray scored 33 points, as No. 6 St. Frances (4-2) beat Bladensburg of Prince George's County, 57-42, in a semifinal of the York (Pa.) Catholic Basketball Tournament. St. Frances meets York Catholic in tonight's 8:15 championship game.

Che Evans scored 29 points and had 12 rebounds, as No. 4 Southern (5-3) defeated Bishop McNamara, 86-56, in a semifinal of the Norfolk (Va.) Catholic High Tournament. Southern will face Maury (Va.) in tonight's 9:15 championship game.

Casey Musick's 32-point performance was not enough for No. 5 Cardinal Gibbons, which fell to Clifford Scott (N.J.), 74-71, in the quarterfinals of the Kingdom of the Sun Tournament in Ocala, Fla.


Senior center Dana Johnson scored 19 and pulled down 35 rebounds, as top-ranked Western (8-0) beat Robert E. Lee, 59-54, in the championship game of the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials Holiday Tournament at Prince George's Community College.

Erica McCauley's game-high 18 points led No. 2 Mount Hebron (6-2) to a 58-44 win over Seton (D.C.) in a consolation game of the same tournament. McCauley also had seven assists for the Vikings, who won two of three games in the tournament.
