Boston College -- Named Tom Coughlin, receivers coach with the New York Giants, football coach.

Cincinnati -- Announced that reserve G Michael Joiner has left the basketball team plans to transfer to another school.

Northern Illinois -- Named Charlie Sadler football coach.

South Florida -- Signed Bobby Paschal, basketball coach, to a contract extension through 1994.

Pro football Pittsburgh Steelers -- Announced DL Lorenzo Freeman will miss Sunday's game with the Houston Oilers because of a broken left foot. No roster move was made to accommodate Freeman.


Hartford Whalers -- Sent LW Yvon Corriveau (1 goal, 1 assist in games), a former Washington Capital, to Springfield (AHL).
