Dr. William Mansfield

Dr. William Kenneth Mansfield, 82, a retired obstetrician and gynecologist, died of a heart attack Monday at St. Joseph Hospital.

Funeral services were being held today at Trinity Episcopal Church-Long Green, 12400 Manor Road, Long Green.

Dr. Mansfield, a resident of Towson, retired from his longtime downtown practice in 1979. He later took a civilian job with the National Security Agency.

Dr. Mansfield was 40-year member of the Medical and Chirurgical Society, a member of the Baltimore City Medical Society and the Lister Society and a founding member of the College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

He was an honorary member of Maryland General Hospital, Franklin Square Hospital, St. Joseph Hospital and the Greater Baltimore Medical Center.

A Pennsylvania native, he graduated from the University of Maryland medical school in 1936.

During World War II, he served in the North African and Italian theaters before being discharged a major in 1946.

He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Heavel.

The family suggested contribu tions to the American Heart Association or Trinity Episcopal Church, 12400 Manor Road, Long Green 21092.
