Kenneth Gill, a Howard County resident and current principal of Havre de Grace Middle School in Harford County, will become principal of Wilde Lake Middle School next semester.
Gill was one of six principals and assistant principals whose appointments were announced by Superintendent Michael E. Hickey at the school board meeting Thursday.
Gill replaces Jesse Smith, who will leave Wilde Lake to head the new Mayfield Woods Middle School, scheduled to open in August.
Assistant principal of Mayfield Woods will be Beverly Koren, a special education teacher at Bryant Woods Elementary School.
At St. John's Lane Elementary School, assistant principal Yvonne Harrison will move up Jan. 2 to become principal. She replaces Andrew M.
Barshinger, who will head Pointer's Run Elementary School, scheduled to open in August.
The vacancy created by Harrison's step up will be filled by Ann Eggleston, a reading specialist at Jeffers Hill Elementary School.
Joining Barshinger as assistant principal at Pointer's Run will be Joanne Ferguson, a teacher of gifted and talented students at Clarksville Elementary School.
Mary Beth Yelen, a special education teacher at Cedar Lane School, became assistant principal, effective immediately.
The position had been vacant since the start of the current school year, when former assistant principal Pamela Butler accepted a similar position at Dasher Green Elementary School.
