Twelve schools in the north county area have registered to participate in the American Heart Association's "Jump Rope for Heart" program this school year.
The annual event is being administered by volunteer Cheryl Hagan.
The schools will enter teams of six students in the event. Students each will receive a jump rope and prizes that escalate with the amount of pledges they secure.
The top money-raiser at each school will be awarded the official "Jump Rope for Heart" trophy. The six members of the winning team which raises the most money at each school will each receive a "Jump Rope for Heart" medallion.
Each school coordinator also can choose an award for his or her work. In addition, Sporttime Equipment will donate an amount toward gym equipment equal to five percent of the total raised at individual schools.
