They're long on good looks

December 26, 1990|By Orlando Sentinel

Screen idol Tom Cruise and presidential naysayer John Sununu both dress dramatically enough to have earned a place on the 1990 "10 Best-dressed Short Men in America" list, published each year by clothier Bob Stern.

The 5-foot-2-inch Stern is president of Short Sizes Inc., a retail and mail-order clothing company based in Cleveland. Other well dressed men under 5-foot-8 on his list are rock star Billy Joel, Tony Award winner Robert Morse, Olympic gymnast Bart Connor, TV handyman Bob Vila, Cleveland Mayor Michael White, novelist Tom Wolfe, and actors Michael J. Fox and Danny DeVito.

Cruise, 5-foot-9, "epitomizes today's casual but elegant look," Stern said.

Stern's "Short Sizes Inc." catalog includes suits and sportcoats by Hart Schaffner & Marx and John Weitz for Palm Beach, raincoats by Oleg Cassini, slacks by Jaymar and outerwear by Field and Stream, as well as shirts, ties, sweaters and casual wear proportioned for short men. For a copy of the catalog, send $1 to Short Sizes Inc., 5385 Warrensville Center Road, Cleveland, Ohio 44137, or call (216) 475-2515.
