Ernest Waters Chemical operator

December 24, 1990

Services for Ernest Waters, who worked more than 30 years for the Allied Chemical Corp., will be held at noon Wednesday at First Apostolic Faith Church, 27 S. Caroline St.

Mr. Waters, who was 75 and a resident of West Baltimore, died of cancer Wednesday at Union Memorial Hospital. He had retired in 1976 from his job as a chemical operator at Allied's plant at Block and Wells streets.

Born and raised in Winnsboro, S.C., Mr. Waters moved to Baltimore and began working for Allied as a young man.

In his spare time, he enjoyed being with his family and loved to fish -- particularly at Cape May, N.J. He was a member of First Apostolic Faith Church and its senior usher board.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, the former Bettie Bethea; two sons, Leon M. Waters and Stanley H. Waters, and a daughter, Ernestine Lockes, all of Baltimore; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
