Government Relations Director Is Named

December 23, 1990

County Executive Eileen M. Rehrmann has named Robert N. Hockaday Jr., director of NMARC Industries, as the administration's director of governmental relations.

The contractual appointment, with an annual salary of $45,000, was approved Thursday by the county's Board of Estimates.

Hockaday had worked on Rehrmann's campaign and served as a member of Rehrmann's transition team when she took office this month.

NMARC Industries is a private, non-profit, vocational program of the Association for Retarded Citizens/Harford County. It employs 52 mentally retarded adults in subcontractor arrangements with more than 50 businesses throughout the Baltimore metropolitan area.

George Harrison, Rehrmann's press secretary, said Hockaday will act as a liaison to the Harford legislative delegation and would be responsible for making sure citizen complaints are handled rapidly.

Hockaday replaces Linda O'Neill, legislative liaison during the administration of former County Executive Habern W. Freeman. O'Neill was transferred to a position as a grants coordinator for the Department of Public Works, Harrison said.
