Baseball Major League Baseball -- Signed a 39-page document with the Players Association, formally ending their five-year collusion battle. The deal calls for the 26 clubs to give the Players Association $280 million in payments. It also formalizes the new-look free agency granted to 15 players on Dec. 7

New York Mets -- Named Jerry Koosman minor-league pitching instructor. Signed 1B Kelvin Torve and C Orlando Mercado. Announced they will not offer a contract to P Jeff Musselman.

Oakland Athletics -- Announced they will not offer contracts to P Jim Corsi, P Dave Otto and OF Steve Howard.

San Diego Padres -- Signed P Larry Andersen to a two-year contract. Announced they will not offer a contract to P Pat Clements.

San Francisco Giants -- Announced they will not offer a contract to P Gary Eave.

Basketball NBA -- Suspended Washington Bullets F-C Pervis Ellison and Indiana Pacers C Rik Smits one game and fined each $7,500 for fighting.

Golden State Warriors -- Waived C Mike Smrek and activated rookie Les Jepsen.

Indiana Pacers -- Signed all-star G Reggie Miller to a five-year contract extension for a reported $16 million.

College Missouri -- Announce G Anthony Peeler, an all-conference selection as a junior, regained his academic eligiblity and will play tonight against Grambling State.

Northern Colorado -- Named former Philadelphia Eagles RB Billy Campfield assistant football coach and minority recruiting coordinator.

Northeastern -- Named Tom Lamb offensive coordinator.

West Georgia -- Named David Dugan athletic director.

West Texas State -- Dropped intercollegiate football.

Xavier -- Named Jack Hermans men's soccer coach.

Football Birmingham Fire (WLAF) -- Named Chan Gailey, offensive coordinator for the Denver Broncos, head coach.

New York Jets -- Placed LB Joe Kelly, linebacker, on injured reserve.

Montreal Machine -- Named Roger Dore president.

Hockey Baltimore Skipjacks (AHL) -- Recalled C Harry Mews from Hampton Roads (ECHL).

Pittsburgh Penguins -- Traded RW Rob Brown (6 goals, 10 assists) to the Hartford Whalers for RW Scott Young (6 goals, 9 assists).

Washington Capitals -- Recalled C Rob Murray from Baltimore (AHL).

Los Angeles Kings -- Announced that RW Frank Breault will miss the remainder of the season due to reconstructive knee surgery.

Capital District Islanders (AHL) -- Recalled LW Doug Pickell from Richmond (ECHL).
