Jenkins' 19 points lead Poly over Loyola, 60-56

Antonio Jenkins scored 19 points to lead No. 12 Poly (4-2, 2-1) to a 60-56 victory over No. 13 Loyola (4-2, 0-2) in a Maryland Scholastic Association A Conference Division II game yesterday.

The Engineers trailed, 16-7, after the first quarter, but they scored 24 points in the second period to take a 31-29 halftime lead. Poly took a 45-43 lead into the fourth quarter.

Loyola managed to stay close throughout the game with 19-for-22 shooting from the foul line.

Dennis Edwards scored 37 points in two quarters, as No. 3 Annapolis (6-0) routed visiting Chesapeake of Anne Arundel County (2-3), 92-64.

Stevie Thomas scored 16 to lead No. 4 Walbrook (4-1) over host Gilman (4-5), 64-56. Walbrook took a 21-9 lead after one quarter and held a 41-23 halftime advantage. Freshman Jimmy Fields scored 21 to pace Gilman.

Trent Thames scored 17 and Larry Bacon added 14 as No. 9 Woodlawn (4-1, 4-1) routed host Franklin (1-4, 1-4), 81-36, in a Baltimore County 4A-3A League game.

Steve Strauss scored 24 and Craig Everett contributed 14 points, as No. 15 Northeast (4-2) defeated visiting Glen Burnie (2-4), 73-55.

Ron Hubbard scored 15 and Brian Parker and Dorian Fullilove each added 12 points to lead No. 16 Meade (5-2, 3-1) to a 74-56 victory over visiting North County (0-5, 0-2) in an Anne Arundel County 4A League Friendship Division game.

No. 19 Overlea (4-0, 3-0) raced to an 18-2 lead after one quarter en route to a 71-38 win over host Pikesville (2-3, 1-2) in a Baltimore County 2A-1A League contest.

Jerome Myer scored 22 as visiting Parkville (4-2, 4-2) defeated Perry Hall (2-4, 2-4), 79-75, in a Baltimore County 4A-3A League game.

Scott Brown scored 30 and Rich Riffle added 19 points, as host Severna Park (2-4, 1-3) defeated Queen Anne's (0-6, 0-3), 95-90, in an Anne Arundel County 4A League Bay Division contest.

Darrin Jones scored 23 and Ronald Isaacs added 16 points as host Mount St. Joseph (5-3, 2-1) routed Northwestern (0-4, 0-4), 84-52, in an MSA A Conference Division I contest.

Girls

Mickie Burns had 14 points and eight rebounds as No. 6 Seton Keough (4-2, 3-0) defeated visiting Mercy (1-3, 1-3), 51-33, in a Catholic League A Division game.

Stacey Himes scored 19 to pace No. 7 Old Mill (6-0) to a 51-35 victory over host Arundel (3-3). Old Mill led, 26-25, after three quarters, but outscored the Wildcats, 25-10, in the last period.

Tami Riley scored 11 and grabbed nine rebounds to lead No. 8 Severna Park (5-1, 4-0) to a 55-14 rout of host Queen Anne's (0-3, 0-2) in an Anne Arundel County 4A League Bay Division game.
