The following accounts were compiled by reporter Richard Irwin from police records in the Baltimore area yesterday and today.

BALTIMORE CITY

THEFT: Northern District -- Police reported that shortly after a man attended services at St. Philip and James Church in the 2800 block of N. Charles St. yesterday afternoon he left the building. Once outside, police said, the man removed several sets of Christmas lights from a bush near the church entrance and walked away. Police said the lights were valued at $50.

ROBBERY: Central District -- Frederick Herrmann, of the 3000 block of Overland Road, reported that he was in the 100 block of Holliday St. early yesterday when he was accosted by two men, one armed with a handgun, who demanded his money. Police said Herrmann gave up several hundred dollars to the men, who fled on foot. Police said the gun used in the robbery was either a .32-caliber or a .38-caliber revolver.

THEFT: Central District -- James Cox, of the 3900 block of Pelham Ave., reported that his car was parked in the 2200 block of Maryland Ave. between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. yesterday when someone forced their way into the vehicle and removed stereo speakers and a cassette. Police said the property was valued at $300.

THEFT: Central District -- Wayne Beckett, of the 1000 block of Valewood Road off Providence Road in Baltimore County, reported that his car was parked in the 1000 block of Guilford Ave. yesterday when someone forced their way in and removed a radar detector. Police said the radar detector was valued at more than $200.

BURGLARY: Central District -- Employees of Dick Enterprises in the 300 block of W. North Ave. reported that someone broke into a trailer parked on their property and removed a telephone fax machine and a typewriter. Police said the office equipment was valued at more than $1,000.

THEFT: Central District -- George Pendleton, of the 300 block of W. Monument St., reported that his car was parked near his home when someone broke into the vehicle and removed brass fixtures and other items. Police said the property was valued at more than $400.

THEFT: Central District -- Police reported that property valued at more than $1,600 was removed from a vehicle owned by Christopher Heally, of Pennsylvania, while it was parked in the first block of E. Read St. Police said the thief made off with power drills and a car phone.

THEFT: Central District -- David Grabner, of the 2700 block of Sandstone Court at Pinedale Woods in Baltimore County, reported that while his car was parked in a garage in the first block of S. Gay St. someone broke into the vehicle and removed property valued at more than $1,000. Police said a camera, car phone and other items were stolen.

BURGLARY: Central District -- A resident of the 1500 block of Mount Royal Ave. reported that someone broke into his apartment by forcing open the front door and removed property valued at more than $700.

OBBERY: Northeastern District -- Zelda Windley, of the 1500 block of Carswell St., reported that she was inside her home early yesterday when two men broke in through the rear kitchen door and forced her to give up a ring and cash. Police said the men fled with property valued at more than $500.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Jose Alonzo, 28, of the 3500 block of Chesterfield Ave., reported that inside his home late Wednesday night he was attacked by a man armed with a knife who demanded his money. Alonzo told police he gave about $8 && to the man, who fled on foot.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Dennis Jones, of the 900 block of Kenwood Ave., reported that he was in the 2000 block of Belair Road last night when he was stopped by two men who asked him for a cigarette. Jones told police he was about to give each man a cigarette when they assaulted him and robbed him of $3 and food stamps worth $50. Police said Jones was not seriously injured.

ROBBERY: Northeastern District -- Ronna Lambert, of the 1900 block of E. 29th St., reported that she was robbed of $70 by a couple with whom she was staying in the 1700 block of Abbotston St. Police said Lambert was beaten by the man, but was not seriously injured. Police said the couple is being sought.

BURGLARY: Northeastern District -- A resident of the 5000 block of Denview Way reported that someone entered his apartment with a key and removed stereo equipment valued at nearly $180.

ROBBERY TRY: Northeastern District -- Police arrested a man and were holding him at the Eastern District lockup pending charges that he attempted to rob the owner of a store in the 3500 block of Harford Road yesterday. Police said the suspect entered the Convenient Food Mart in the 3500 block of Harford Road and demanded money from the owner while pointing a handgun at him. Police said when the owner realized the gun was a toy, he grabbed onto the man and threw him to the floor. There, the owner held the man until the arrival of police.
