A Severn woman died Tuesday from injuries she received in an accident last week.

Debbie Lewisse Upton, 18, of the 1600 block Disney Road, was pronounced dead at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center at University Hospital in Baltimore.

The police said Upton was a passenger in a 1986 Dodge when the driver lost control of the car on Conway Road in Gambrills and hit a tree about 11:25 p.m. Dec. 14.

Police said speed and alcohol contributed to the crash.


County police have charged a North Carolina man with possession of narcotics after officers said they found him with drugs Wednesday.

Christopher Glen Lewis, 19, of Whiteville, N.C., was charged with possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine.

The police said officers on patrol behind My Place bar on Route 175 saw two men making some sort of transaction. The officers approached one of the men and searched him, police said.

The officers found two bags of crack cocaine, police said.


An Annapolis man was robbed Monday behind a building on West Street, county police said.

The police said the man told officers he was behind the building in the 2000 block of West Street about 4 p.m. when two men approached him and one of them hit him over the head.

The robbers then took $20 and left.

The man was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center, where he was treated and released.

No description of the robbers was given.
