Meeting Other Children

December 19, 1990

UNIONTOWN - Students at Francis Scott Key High have formed a community service link with children at Bernard Harris Elementary in Baltimore.

While both are participating in an attendance challenge, students from Harris sent those at Key a poster describing eight ways to do better on functional tests. Forty students from Key, along with Santa, visited Harris on Monday.

In other school news:

* Students at Francis Scott Key saw the "Seat Belt Convincer" Monday, sponsored by the Maryland State Police.

The "Convincer" places students in a simulated traffic accident and shows them why seat belts are necessary.

* Middle school teachers visited Liberty and Francis Scott Key Monday and Tuesday to learn what they should teach their students to prepare them for high school. They will visit South Carroll Jan. 11.
