An altercation between two friends inside a Greenmount Avenue pizza carryout last night resulted in the men being sent to the emergency room at the University of Maryland Medical Center for treatment of stab and gunshot wounds.

Detective Bertina Silver, of the city police homicide squad, said a brief fight broke out inside the Pizza Queen in the 2000 block of Greenmount Ave. about 10:40 p.m. between Dong Yoon, 26, an employee of the shop, and his friend, Thomas Wilkerson Jr., 19, of the 4900 block of Bowland Ave.

Silver said the reason for the altercation was not known, but Yoon was stabbed in the left side of the head and Wilkerson was shot in the back and chest.

Silver said a handgun was found inside the shop and was being held as evidence. The knife used to stab Yoon was not recovered, she said.

Silver said charges against each man would be prepared, pending completion of the investigation.

A spokeswoman for the hospital's emergency room said Yoon was treated for a laceration of the left side of the head and released.

Wilkerson was listed in critical condition today after emergency surgery, the spokeswoman said.

The spokeswoman said the men were lying next to each other while being treated in the emergency room, but had to be separated when they began yelling at each other and creating a disturbance.
