James B. Ryan Jr. Software engineer

A memorial Mass for James B. Ryan Jr., a computer software engineer, will be offered at 7:30 p.m. today at the Roman Catholic Church of the Resurrection in Burtonsville.

Mr. Ryan, who was 30 and lived in Burtonsville, died Wednesday of Hodgkin's disease at a Philadelphia hospital.

He began working for Radix Inc., a Rockville defense contractor, nearly two years ago. Earlier, he worked for two other defense contractors, HRB-Singer Inc. in Lanham and Locus Inc. in Alexandria, Va.

Mr. Ryan was born in Havertown, Pa., and graduated from the Pennsylvania State University in 1982.

He played junior varsity ice hockey in college and later played softball and soccer on church, community and company teams.

Mr. Ryan is survived by his wife, the former Patricia Keeney; his father, James B. Ryan Sr. of King of Prussia, Pa.; two brothers, Stephen and Matthew Ryan, both of King of Prussia; and a sister, Suzanne Zinni of Conshohocken, Pa.
