Graveside services for Charles Bernard Neikirk, retired treasurer of a West Virginia coal company, will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Highland Presbyterian Cemetery in Street.
Mr. Neikirk, who was 83 and lived in Bluefield, W.Va., died Saturday at a hospital there after a short illness.
He retired about 10 years ago as treasurer of the Sovereign Pocahontas Coal Co. He also served on the board of a radio station in Harrisonburg, Va.
Born in Marion, Va., and reared in the Street area, he was a graduate of the Charlotte Hall Military Academy.
His wife, the former Jane Williams, died in 1989.
He is survived by a sister, Margaret Neikirk Snodgrass of Street; two nieces, Elizabeth Scarff Steele of Petersburg, Va., and Margaret Rose Scarff Wilson of Darlington; and a nephew, Winfield Conly Scarff of Fallston.
The family suggested memorial contributions to the Highland Presbyterian Church in Street or to the First Presbyterian Church in Bluefield, of which he was a member.
