Services for Harry Ross Hitchcock, a Baltimore native and founder of the Lancaster Leaf Tobacco Co. in Lancaster, Pa., will be held at 10 a.m. today at the First United Methodist Church in Lancaster.
Mr. Hitchcock, who was 93, died Friday at his Lancaster home after being ill for a month.
He retired in 1982 as a consultant to Lancaster Leaf Tobacco, which he started in the 1920s as a branch of a Richmond Tobacco Co. The company became independent in 1941. Mr. Hitchcock was its president and later its chairman.
Mr. Hitchcock, who went to work for a tobacco company in 1909, was born in Baltimore and lived in the city until 1959.
