John R. Pickens and Randolph A. Peterson recently joined McCrone Inc., of Annapolis in different areas of the land surveying, engineering and environmental firm.
Pickens, who joins McCrone as Assistant Chief of Surveys, will work at the firm's Annapolis location, where he will oversee all surveying operations for the company.
A licensed professional land surveyor in Maryland and two other states, Pickens has eight years of experience in boundary, topographic, and as-built surveys, construction stake-out, and utility research. He has worked on projects ranging from airport runways to wharf expansions, and is currently involved with the Edgewater Library and South County Water and Wastewater projects in the county.
A resident of Kent Island, Pickens is a member of of the Maryland, North Carolina and Virginia Associations of Surveyors.
Petersen is a new business development engineer at McCrone's Annapolis headquarters. A professional engineer in Maryland and Virginia, he has an aerospace engineering background from undergraduate studies at the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a degree in civil engineering from Johns Hopkins University.
With over 19 years of civil engineering design and construction management experience in Maryland, Petersen has consulted on government, industrial and institutional projects, as well as commercial and residential site developments in the area.
Petersen is active in the Maryland Society of Professional Engineers, the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Engineering Society of Baltimore. He is the president of of the Annapolis chapter of the Maryland Society of Professional Engineers.
Residents of Annapolis, Petersen and his wife, Melody, are members of the United States Naval Academy Parents and Sponsors Club.
NEW OFFICERS ELECTED FOR MEDICAL CENTER Annapolis attorney Carl Tenner was named chairman of the Board of Directors for Anne Arundel Medical Center Foundation at a recent board meeting in which officers were also elected.
The Foundation's Board of Directors oversees the solicitation, investment, and distribution of funds to benefit Anne Arundel Medical Center and its nonprofit subsidiaries.
During the meeting, Sherb Walker was elected vice chairman; Virginia Meredith, treasurer; and Florence Greenfield became the new secretary.
AFFORDABLE HOUSING REPORT IS AVAILABLE The Home Builders Association of Maryland recently congratulated Anne Arundel Chapter President Milt Horn for his work on the Anne Arundel County Affordable Housing Task Force.
The Task Force recently created a report with eight recommendations to expand affordable housing development and construction in Anne Arundel County communities. Copies of the report are available upon request.
GLEN BURNIE WOMAN WINS TRIP TO FLORIDA Vera Rucker of Glen Burnie was the grand-prize winner of a contest by Elkridge National Bank's newest office in the Cromwell Field Shopping Center on Baltimore & Annapolis Boulevard in Glen Burnie.
The bank, which opened the branch with a two week celebration that culminated in the grand prize drawing, will send Rucker and another person on a trip to Walt Disney World in Florida.
Elkridge National Bank is a thirty year-old institution based in Howard County.
AREA BUILDER JOINS CENTURY 21 REALTY Alex Beckman recently joined Century 21 Moss Realty, located at 1536 Annapolis Road, Odenton, as a full time sales associate.
Beckman, who specializes in residential properties throughout Severn, Annapolis, and Fort Meade, is currently taking courses required by Century 21's CareerTrak training program, which will allow him to achieve professional designations in various areas of expertise.
Prior to joining Century 21, Beckman worked in construction and has 10 years field experience in single-family homes.
REALTY COUPLE WINS SALES DESIGNATION Mark Volke and Karyn P. Keating-Volke, owners of Century 21 Pasadena Realtors, were recently awarded the Residential Sales Specialist Designation by the Residential Sales Council of the Realtors National Marketing Institute, an affiliate of the National Association of Realtors.
The nationally-recognized designation is a symbol of excellence, and is held by less than two percent of all Realtor-Associates. The two received their designations during meetings in conjunction with the National Association of Realtors meetings, in New Orleans, La.
Volke and Keating-Volke are members of the Anne Arundel County Association of Realtors, the Maryland Association of Realtors, and are lifetime members of the Distinguished Sales Achievement Club.
Long-time residents of Pasadena, the two reside in the Lake Shore area with their two children.
